Sponsors:
University of Nottingham
Background
China has emerged from the current world financial crisis as a big winner as it has rapidly reduced its gap with the most industrialised nations such as the US, Japan, Germany and the UK.
However, after 30 years of fast economic growth, China has to face more challenges and constraints to its future growth and prosperity. Sustainable development has become the most concerned problem for China’s next phase of growth.
This conference will invite a number of well-known scholars from the UK and China to discuss different aspects of sustainable development relating to science, technology, environment and economic changes, and how these issues will be best managed to help China achieve its medium and long-term development goals.
The one-day conference will be jointly organised by the University of Nottingham (School of Contemporary Chinese Studies), Fudan University (School of Economics) and Zhejiang University (School of Public Administration). It will be held on 27 May 2010 at the Shanghai Expo.
Academics, policy makers and students are welcome to join this event. The conference committee will provide free tickets for all participants to attend the conference at the Shanghai Expo.
