Call for Papers

Workshop on “The Rise of China: 40 Years of Reform and Opening-up and Implications for Other Economies

Sept 21-22 2018. Shanghai, China

In 1978, China embarked on a journey of opening-up and reforms, leading to 40 years of sustainable and miracle growth amid serious suspicions and speculations of collapse and crises. Consequently, the global geopolitical and economic landscape has undergone fundamental changes, with profound implications for other economies and global governance.

To mark the 40th anniversary of China’s rise, the Institute of World Economy at Fudan University, in collaboration with the journal Economic Systems and Hunan Normal University, will hold the captioned workshop. Papers on any aspects of China’s economic development are welcome. Preference will be given to those that focus on the interactions between the Chinese and other economies through trade, capital flows, regional cooperation, cross-border activities and so on. Submissions must be in English with good data and solid methodology plus evidence-based policy recommendations or implications. A committee will screen and select submissions for presentations at the workshop. A subset of the workshop papers will be invited for revisions and double-blind reviews for publication consideration in a special issue of the Economic Systems. There is no registration or submission fee. One author of each accepted paper will be provided with meals and hotels during the workshop. Participants except invited guests are responsible for other costs including transportation.

Please send your full draft paper to fudansjs@163.com before June 15, 2018 (late submissions will not be considered).
